Nursery Fees and Funding Policy

Effective from 1st June 2026.

Our Commitment


At Thornbury Nest Day Nursery & Preschool, we are committed to delivering high-quality early education in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).


Session Times
- Full Day: 7:30am – 6:00pm
- Funded Day 8:00am – 6:00pm: The maximum allowable funded hours per day is 10 hours (there is an optional early start fee for 7:30am-8:00am)

Private Fees (Non-Funded) 

Our fees are reviewed annually every April.

  • Fees are charged monthly in advance.

  • Minimum sessions 2 days a week.

Government Funded Places

We offer funded childcare places in line with South Gloucestershire Council
funding:


Funding can be term time only or stretched across the year where applicable, as we
operate all year round funding is spread over 51 weeks.

What Funding Covers?

  • High-quality childcare and education

  • Staffing and EYFS delivery

Additional Charges (EYFS Compliant)

In line with EYFS statutory guidance, we do not charge for funded hours
themselves, but we may charge for optional extras.

Consumables Charge (Optional)

This covers:

  • Meals and snacks (baby formula)

  • Nappies and wipes

  • Sun cream

  • Arts & craft materials​

Parents may opt out of consumables by providing their own items. Please speak to
us about this if needed, all food must be in line with EYFS and setting guidelines.
For funded days the charges for food and consumables are given below:

Optional early start fee: 7:30am -8:00 am - £4.50

Food & Nutrition Policy

  • All meals are freshly prepared by a catering company each day and nutritionally balanced

  • Menus follow NHS/EYFS guidance

  • Special dietary requirements are catered for

Payment Terms

  • Fees payable monthly in advance

  • Payment due by 1st of each month

  • Late payment charges may apply

Non-Payment

Failure to pay fees may result in:

  • Suspension of additional (non-funded) services

  • Withdrawal of nursery place (in line with contract terms)

Absence & Holidays

  • Fees remain payable during child absence

  • Funded hours are subject to local authority rules

  • Bank holidays are billable.

Registration & Deposits

  • Registration Fee: £ 75. This is to cover paperwork and settling sessions for the child.

Notice Period

  • 6 weeks written notice required to terminate a place

  • Fees payable during notice period

Late Collection Policy

  • Nursery closes at 6:00pm sharp

  • Late collection charged at £10 per 10minutes

Equal Access Statement

We are committed to ensuring:

  • No child is denied a funded place due to inability to pay extras

  • Parents can access funded hours completely free of charge if they choose

This complies fully with EYFS and local authority funding rules.
